Plot location: 0.16 km NW of the summit of Rappahannock Mtn.
Rock Types Present: minor metabasalt debris.
A fairly diverse oak-hickory forest occupying a concave, northwest-facing upper slope. This site appears to have been located at or near the former downslope edge of pastures on the summit/ upper slopes of Rappahannock Mountain. This part of the pasture was probably abandoned around 1930. Because some reasonably large trees occur here, it seems likely that this area was a grazed woodland prior to 1930.
